FOUR CORNERS

This is a half field game for 16 players (field should be reduced as the number of players goes down).

This training game allows the players to work on several things at one time. As a coach, you can emphasis any one or two objectives.

Emphasis
Possession; Changing Point of Attack; Preparation; Passing; Combination Play; Recognition of Space and Pressure; First, Second and Third Attacker; First, Second, and Third Defender; Transitional Play

How it Works
A very simple game with plenty of teaching opporunities. Mark half of your field by including four corners (see illustration at right).
Divide your team into two teams with four neutral players. Place the four neutral players in each corner.

Using one ball, the field players play possession. A goal is scored everytime they complete a pass to a neutral-target player (in the corner. Once the pass is received by the neutral player, the team that "scores" keeps possession and goes in the other direction to try to pass to the targets at the other end of the field. Players may play "back" to the neutral players behind them for drops to maintain possession.

Variations - Have your target players as Goalkeepers and must catch the balls and distribute with their hands; have target players play ONE touch back the team that passes to them.
