IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN TWO YELLOW CARDS VERSUS ONE RED CARD?

Technically, yes; functionally, no.

For NCYSA matches: Two yellow cards = one red card and the player MUST sit out his/her next match.

In NCYSA matches if an official gives a player two yellow cards in the same match, that equals one red card (send-off) and the player must leave the match. That player is NOT allowed to play in his/her next scheduled NCYSA match.

Please do not confuse this with some high school rules regarding how two yellow cards are counted. High school rules are very different.

NOTE: Any adult that is told to leave (adults are NOT shown the red or yellow cards) an NCYSA match is required to sit out their next scheduled NCYSA match. This goes for coaches, parents, and spectators.
