Cutting the Angle
Cutting the Angle

Cutting the angle can apply to any player on the field, but is most commonly used with the Goalkeeper.

If a GK is faced with a one on one situation (1v1) and they stay on their line, they allow the attacker more access to the goal, increasing their chances of scoring.

However, if the GK comes out and "cuts the angle", they give the attacker LESS goal area to shoot at and decrease the chances of being scored on.
