Raven Nicole Kennedy
8/10/93 - 1/24/10
Duplin High School Varsity and DEM Girls
On Sunday January 24, 2010, an afternoon with friends turned tragic when Raven Nicole Kennedy was killed in a four-wheeler accident several miles from her home. Raven was 16 years old, and the only child of Padrick and Nancy Kennedy. Raven was a junior at East Duplin High School of Beulaville, North Carolina. She lived in Chinquapin, North Carolina, was a Christian and was very involved in her church youth group. Raven is greatly missed by both her family and friends and she will never be forgotten.
Raven was a natural born athlete and she played a variety of sports. However, soccer was her favorite! She played as a defender, most often as a sweeper or stopper. Raven was always a team player and never one to concern herself to be the focal point of the team. Her first experience with soccer was at age 6. Her opinion back then was that it involved way too much running! As Raven got older she developed a great love for the game of soccer and running was no longer a problem for her, rather something she enjoyed. Even at home, Raven would run and practice different drills in her spare time. She always gave 100% in a game and never let a loss get her down. Raven was part of several conference and tournament championships in junior high school and with East Duplin Soccer Club Recreation teams. She played with Beulaville Soccer in the 1st grade, the Chinquapin Junior High School team in the 7th and 8th grades, as well as the Lady Pythons. In the 9th and 10th grades, she played on the East Duplin High School Varsity teams, as well as DC United and DEM Girls.
