NC State Qualify Rounds

 

Five teams in three divisions entered the National Cup competition through the State Qualifying rounds.  Triad United Aces, the lone entry for the Women's Division get the automatic entry to the Region 3 tournament over Memorial Day weekend in Alabama.  Both the Men's Amateur and Men's Over 30 divisions have been determined by a qualifying championship.

STATE QUALIFYING MATCH INFORMATION

The North Carolina Adult Soccer Association will be hosting state qualifying matches for the 2010 National Cup Regional Competition.  Details on the Regional Competition can be found at the bottom of this page.  Since National Cup rules (201.2) are very strict about qualification, NCASA will hold qualifying matches for team interested in the appropriate divisions. National Cup requires all teams interested in competing in the event to pay the USASA fee (see chart below), play by the tournament's rules.

No doubt a bunch of questions are resounding, so to best prepare, we've put together these FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for you to use.  They are honest and insightful and don't shy away from the hard questions being asked.

 

Additionally, NCASA has drawn up the information that follows to address the expressed interest from teams in several of the applicable divisions of the USASA National Cup.

The Championship match will be played at Noon on Saturday, March 27 at Lake Norman #2 in Statesville.
Phoenix FC (TASL)
Wanderers FC (PASL)

The Championship match is being schedule for 1:30pm on April 11 at the Eurosport Soccer Center in Efland, NC.

Format of Play: Single Elimination with National Cup policy serving as the basis for rules of competition.  Seeding will be drawn on NC Adult State Cup results, if needed.
National Cup Rules 2008-09.  Updates to rules (if any) will be posted by Mid-February.

Entry Costs: Teams are responsible to pay for the National Cup entry fee, the regional fee and half the match fees for referees.  NCASA will arrange for fields and have referees assigned, plus NCASA will pay the entry fee for NC Adult State Cup champions.  All teams are responsible for half the match fees for referees.  National Cup will have four officials per crew at $90 per team per match.

* Includes $25 Regional Fee.
** Does NOT include $500 Travel Bond for Teams advancing to Regionals.

Entry & Deadline: Extended to Friday,  Feb. 26, 2010 at NCASA Offices in Greensboro with completed Application, full Entry Fee (not including match fees for referees) AND Player Pool (Roster) Form.

Seeding: Since all the entering teams participated in NCASA's Adult State Cup, the results of that tournament will be used to seed the teams for play in the single elimination state qualifying rounds of National Cup.  The order for seeding will be as follows:

  1. 1.  Champion

  2. 2.  Finalist

  3. 3.  Semi-Finalist

  4. 4.  Group Winner

  5. 5.  Record (wins, draw, loss)

  6. Tie breaker - Goal differential

Player Pool (Roster) Requirements: NCASA will exclusively use National Cup policy and forms, except in those areas where State Association waiver is allowable and/or expected, as follows:

The team’s Player Pool (Roster) Form MUST be submitted to the NCASA Office by the Entry Deadline of Extended to Friday,  Feb. 26, 2010 with application and complete fee.  Final Rosters are frozen 10 days prior to scheduled match date.

All Players listed on the team’s Player Pool (Roster) Form MUST be properly registered with the team through the team’s NCASA affiliated league.

Players with Professional Status MUST be reinstated as Amateurs through USSF by the time of the team’s first scheduled match or will otherwise be ineligible until reinstatement is granted.

International players MUST receive International Clearance through USSF by the time of the team’s first scheduled match or will otherwise be ineligible until USSF clearance is granted.

Players will be “Cup tied” once placed on a team’s Player Pool (Roster) Form, thus making them ineligible to play in the National Cup for any other team in the same division.

Entry Costs: Winners of the State Qualifiers of National Cup will not have any further fees to pay for entry, aside for a $500 travel bond that is refunded within 30 days of the team having completed its scheduled matches at the regional competition.

 

Dates & Locations: Men’s and Women’s Amateur, Open and Over 30 divisions will play May 27-31, 2010 in Tuscaloosa, AL.  The location of the Men’s and Women’s Under 23 division has yet to be determined.
