USASA National
Cup Finals
Seattle,
Washington
August 3-5, 2007
North
Carolina's own State Cup finalists and Region 3 Women's Amateur
Champions, the Triad United Aces, completed
their Cinderella National Cup experience in Seattle, Washington
this week losing in the finals to a very good
New York Eastern Athletic Club team, 4-2. This
was a single
elimination competition, so the Triad United
Aces had defeated
Region 2's winners, St. Louis SC, 3-2 at 6pm on
August 3rd in a nail-biting match. Their
opponents in the Finals on
August 5th defeated the Region
IV Champions, SF Nighthawks.
Quote
from Triad United Aces Coach, Craig Fedor, "Not
a bad showing for a second year program amongst
the powerhouses of Women Amateur Soccer. One of
the Four teams in the Final Four and a lot of
people were asking, 'Who are they?' The other
three teams came from prestigious Club
Organizations with lots of money, team warm-ups,
and complete uniforms. Region I was represented
by the New York Eastern Athletic Club(NYEAC),
Region II by the Saint Louis Soccer Club that
had beaten the two time defending National
Champs from Chicago to defend there region, and
Region IV by the San Francisco Hawks from the W
League on the West Coast.
