Five teams entered the USASA
National Cup State Qualifying tournament
in three divisions of play: Women, Men's
Amateur & Men's Over 30. The
competition starts on 3/27 in
Statesville between Tigres de Carolina (CPSL) &
Asheville Wizards FC (ABASA). On 4/11,
Phoenix FC (TASL) will meet Wanderers FC
(PASL) at Eurosport Soccer Center in
Efland.

After numerous postponements,
the Men's Amateur final came to
its conclusion on Saturday,
February 20 at Smith Soccer Park
in Greensboro as Tigres Carolina
of Charlotte overcame Clockwork
Orange of Raleigh to win the
Men's Amateur division of State
Cup by a score or 2-1.
Great weather and
sportsmanship saw 7 divisions full of
teams culminate with champions over the
weekend of Feb. 20 & 21.

During their annual meeting on February
5 & 6 in New Orleans, LA, both US Soccer
and US Adult Soccer announced the
election of their presidents.
Sunil Gulati
was re-elected President of US Soccer,
while US Adult Soccer elected Richard Groff.

Sheraton. It's always a pleasure
to acknowledge the great efforts and

thanks to each of the leagues and
participants of the 2010 NCASA Annual
Meeting. This year's meeting highly
focused with great discussions and very
useful feedback. 2010 looks to be a

It's that time of
year again for "Calendar Year" Leagues to
start the re-affiliate their membership with NC
Adult Soccer. The process is
incredibly simple.
The President of
USASA has formally prepared an
update to the membership on several
issues, including the status of the
Consultants Report from the Summit,
their Management Review as well as a
report on what actions have been taken
to begin the implementation process.
NC
Adult Soccer has opened its annual
awards nominations process to the
membership. You can nominate players,
coaches, referees, administrators and
friends of soccer for NCASA prestigious
litany of honors that will be awarded
and celebrated at the 2010 Annual
Meeting.
The US
Adult Soccer Association held its
National Summit and Mid-Year Meeting in
Phoenix on October 8-11. NC Adult
Soccer had 4 delegates attend and
contribute significantly to the
meetings. Congratulations to Tom
O'Shea and the Task Force Team for all
their great work in making the Summit a
major success!
The US
Adult Soccer Association, in
collaboration with NCASA and all its
affiliate State Associations are
conducting a Membership Opinion Survey
to improve its programs and services.

The
United States Adult Soccer Association
has created a soccer specific blog
site to openly discuss and share
information on the 2009 Soccer Summit.
The planning is being chaired by North
Carolina's own Tom O'Shea. Check

SAN LUIS is Inaugural Champion!

teams entered the tournament in its
inaugural year representing five
different leagues: TASL, WNC, LHFNC,
ECOS, and LFNC. To date the
competition has had a series of
excellent matches on top quality fields.

teams traveled from North Carolina to
participate in the 2009 USASA Veterans
Cup in Lancaster, Massachusetts on July
7-12. Three made it to the Finals
and Port City Soccer Club brought home
the championship honors!

13th annual Neptune Soccer Classic at Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia
Beach, Virginia over the weekend of
August 8 & 9.

7v7 coed tournament in Raleigh on Sept.

teams battled the best teams from the 13
states of Region 3 to determine who
would move on to the National Cup finals
in Sanford, Florida on July 24-26, 2009.

The
President and Director of NC Adult
Soccer spent the day at the North
Carolina General Assembly visiting some
friends of the game we all love.
After several introductions and
meetings, Senator Katie Dorsett and Rep.
Ty Harrell both agreed to serve as
primary sponsors for legislation that
would create a Soccer License Plate.

Soccer President Elected to National Board
USASA's Region 3 have
elected Darius Ejlali (on right),
President of NC Adult Soccer, as Deputy
Director for the region. In the
position, he will serve as a member of
the US Adult Soccer Board of Directors

Wilmington Hammerheads Professional
Soccer Club will be hosting a 4-day
try-out in search for new talent for the
2009 season. The try-out will be held in

for its open tryouts for the mens team. They will be held on
December 13th and 14th WakeMed Soccer
Park from 10 AM to 1 PM.

that will be through insurance mainstay,

The
United States Adult Soccer Association
will be hosting the 2008 USASA Mid-Year
Meeting in San Antonio, Texas from
October 9-12 at the Marriott Riverwalk.
The intent of the event is to improve
adult soccer programs as USASA is the
largest Adult Soccer group in the United
States.
The
Carolina RailHawks have announced an
“Insiders” contest that run through the
USL-1 Championship Game on October 11th.
RailHawks fans that join the “Insiders”
club will be eligible to win autographed
soccer balls, jerseys and a mystery
item. The RailHawks will draw a name
each day among all Insiders members and
announce the winner on the RailHawks
website each day.

Country Tourney in Charleston
Twenty
five teams from across North Carolina
traveled to our neighbors to the South
to enjoy the annual adult soccer held in
Charleston, SC. The teams
represent NCASA leagues from Asheville
to Raleigh and include several NC Adult
State Cup competitors. They are playing
across six different "age" divisions.

NC Adult Soccer Annual Meeting was
the biggest ever held as 29 were in
attendance from 15 member leagues during
the January 26th event at the Four Seasons Sheraton in
Greensboro.
The NCSRA Mentor
Program’s mission is to build a solid
base of knowledge and skills in the art
of officiating soccer, as well as give
opportunity and exposure to the referees
who will be the driving
The North Carolina
Soccer Hall of Fame inducted its
Class of 2008 on Saturday, January 26,
2008 during a wonderfully attended
banquet in their honor. This years class
consist of Garry Hall, Mia Hamm & Paul James
Cape Fear
Adult Soccer is hosting the 2007 Seaside
Adult Soccer Classic on February 9 & 10
for Men's Open, Men's Over 30, Men's
Over 40, Men's Over 50 and Coed playing
divisions.
The first
registration deadline of the
Veterans Cup is fast approaching on
February 1st.
The tournament committee needs to
have a minimum of four teams
registered in the women’s over-60
division in order for the bracket to
be viable. All other divisions
require a minimum of four teams by
March 31st.
On a day
that would make European Footie fans
proud, NCASA concluded the 2007 Adult
State Cup with the final
match of the men's over 30 division.
Kicking off at
Noon on Saturday, January 19, 2008 in
Greensboro at Smith Park Soccer Complex
the LA Mountaineers took
the
defending champions Highbury FC into
overtime after tying the match at the
end of regulation, 1-1. After 30
minutes and a goal apiece, the teams
squared off in kicks from the spot.
Highbury took the prize 3 kicks to 2.
Region
3's National Cup tournament will be
hosted by Eagle Harbor, Florida near
Jacksonville over Memorial day weekend
in 1008 and 2009. North Carolina
bid was turned down by the region to
continue the rotation policy for the
open, amateur and over 30 playing
divisions.
The
Wilmington Hammerheads Professional
Soccer Club will be hosting a 3-day
try-out in search for new talent for the
2008 season. The try-out will be held in
Wilmington from November 30th to
December 2nd. At least one player from
the try-out is guaranteed a contract and
a $500 signing bonus.
The
Carolina RailHawks announced the dates
for the open tryouts for both men and
women’s teams. They will be held on
December 21st and 22nd at SAS Soccer
Park from 10 AM to 1 PM for the men and
from 1 PM to 4 PM for the women.

strong supporters of the USASA National
Veterans Cup, last held in Wilmington,
NC in 2005 & 2006. The event is
going west to Bellingham, WA and North

Attends US Soccer & US Adult Soccer
Annual Meeting February 23 & 24
NC Adult Soccer
sent a delegation to the annual meeting
of the United States Soccer Federation
and United State Adult Soccer
Association in Los Angeles, CA.
The meetings, held on February 23 & 24,
provided regional, national and
international information on the game.

Classic for helping us conclude the last
two divisions of State Cup play.

Greensboro - NC
Adult Soccer held its largest attended
annual meeting on January 6th with 24
participants representing 11 leagues
across the state, NCSRA and USASA.
New officers were elected for two-year
terms, amendments were made to the
constitution and the annual budget was
adopted.
NCASA also
recognized several awards recipients,
including
Coach of the Year &
Referee of the Year.

Lowcountry Soccer Festival in Charleston, SC

Tournament Announcement -I am happy to announce the Great Lakes Classic the "Best Women's
Tournament in the Midwest" to be played on
the "Best Soccer Fields in
Michigan." The tournament will be
held on September 23rd and 24th in Saginaw,
Michigan. The tournament hosts an Open, 2
Over 30, an Over 40, and an Over 50
division. If you're interested, the
registration deadline is August 31st, but don't
