this month to compete in the Seaside
Classic Adult Tournament and brought
home the Championship!

NC Adult
Soccer honored six well-deserving
enthusiasts of the game on Sunday,
January 27, 2008, during the NC Soccer
Awards Luncheon at the Four Seasons
Sheraton. It's always a pleasure
to acknowledge the great efforts and
contributions offered by those that make
adult soccer a great pass-time for our
members.
The 2008
NC Adult Soccer Annual Meeting was
the biggest ever held as 29 were in
attendance from 15 member leagues during
the January 26th event at the Four Seasons Sheraton in
Greensboro.

Program’s mission is to build a solid
base of knowledge and skills in the art
of officiating soccer, as well as give
opportunity and exposure to the referees
who will be the driving
The North Carolina
Soccer Hall of Fame inducted its
Class of 2008 on Saturday, January 26,
2008 during a wonderfully attended
banquet in their honor. This years class
consist of Garry Hall, Mia Hamm & Paul James
Cape Fear
Adult Soccer is hosting the 2007 Seaside
Adult Soccer Classic on February 9 & 10
for Men's Open, Men's Over 30, Men's
Over 40, Men's Over 50 and Coed playing
divisions.
The first
registration deadline of the
Veterans Cup is fast approaching on
February 1st.
The tournament committee needs to
have a minimum of four teams
registered in the women’s over-60
division in order for the bracket to
be viable. All other divisions
require a minimum of four teams by
March 31st.
On a day
that would make European Footie fans
proud, NCASA concluded the 2007 Adult
State Cup with the final
match of the men's over 30 division.
Kicking off at
Noon on Saturday, January 19, 2008 in
Greensboro at Smith Park Soccer Complex
the LA Mountaineers took
the
defending champions Highbury FC into
overtime after tying the match at the
end of regulation, 1-1. After 30
minutes and a goal apiece, the teams
squared off in kicks from the spot.
Highbury took the prize 3 kicks to 2.
Region
3's National Cup tournament will be
hosted by Eagle Harbor, Florida near
Jacksonville over Memorial day weekend
in 1008 and 2009. North Carolina
bid was turned down by the region to
continue the rotation policy for the
open, amateur and over 30 playing
divisions.
The
Wilmington Hammerheads Professional
Soccer Club will be hosting a 3-day
try-out in search for new talent for the
2008 season. The try-out will be held in
Wilmington from November 30th to
December 2nd. At least one player from
the try-out is guaranteed a contract and
a $500 signing bonus.
The
Carolina RailHawks announced the dates
for the open tryouts for both men and
women’s teams. They will be held on
December 21st and 22nd at SAS Soccer
Park from 10 AM to 1 PM for the men and
from 1 PM to 4 PM for the women.

Carolina Teams Return from Week of
Wonder in Washington
While none of our
North Carolina teams participating
brought home the Gold, the Port City
United men's over 30 team did bring back
a Silver trophy. Not to be out
done, our remaining participants,
including one of NC's own referees
brought home a great collection of
photos for your enjoyment. Check

The best adult
teams across the South came to
Fayetteville, North Carolina over
Memorial Day weekend to compete in the
regional finals. Open, amateur &

For the last 5
years North Carolina teams have been
strong supporters of the USASA National
Veterans Cup, last held in Wilmington,
NC in 2005 & 2006. The event is
going west to Bellingham, WA and North
Carolina teams are invited to grow their
support!

Attends US Soccer & US Adult Soccer
Annual Meeting February 23 & 24
NC Adult Soccer
sent a delegation to the annual meeting
of the United States Soccer Federation
and United State Adult Soccer
Association in Los Angeles, CA.
The meetings, held on February 23 & 24,
provided regional, national and
international information on the game.
Many thanks to the
organizer of the Seaside Adult Soccer
Classic for helping us conclude the last
two divisions of State Cup play.
Congratulations to all the participants.
Greensboro - NC
Adult Soccer held its largest attended
annual meeting on January 6th with 24
participants representing 11 leagues
across the state, NCSRA and USASA.
New officers were elected for two-year
terms, amendments were made to the
constitution and the annual budget was
adopted.
NCASA also
recognized several awards recipients,
including
Coach of the Year &
Referee of the Year.

Announces
New Assistant to the Director

new Assistant to the Director, replacing
Patrick.Patrick was with NCASA for 2 years, while
attending Elon University and is leaving for
graduate school at Drew University in New
Jersey.

comes to NCASA with a broad base of soccer

6-30-06: Office Holiday
-The office will be
closed July 3rd & 4th in recognition of the

5-25-06: Lowcountry
Send-Off
-NCASA is proud to be
sending a team into every division of the
Lowcountry Soccer Festival in Charleston, SC
this year. Always one of the most widely
attended out-of-state tournaments, we hope to
hear of many victories for North Carolina!
There are twenty-six teams from North Carolina
participating. More information and
pictures to follow after the tournament this
weekend.

Tournament Announcement -I am happy to announce the Great Lakes Classic the "Best Women's
Tournament in the Midwest" to be played on
the "Best Soccer Fields in
Michigan." The tournament will be
held on September 23rd and 24th in Saginaw,
Michigan. The tournament hosts an Open, 2
Over 30, an Over 40, and an Over 50
division. If you're interested, the
registration deadline is August 31st, but don't
