State
Select Program
GOAL:
To develop a State Select Program in NC that
builds towards and meets the goals and
objectives of USASA player development and
exposure, and competitive play for both men and
women.
Objective
1: In
the first year, the objective is to establish a
core program with an advisory board that focuses
on creating a player pool, opportunities for
player development and training, and competitive
play within the State
Objective
2: In the second year, the objective is to
reinforce the core program with established
funding and a well-founded player pool selection
process that is based on NCASA membership.
To continue and enhance opportunities for player
development and training, and increase
competitive play to the Region.
Objective
3: In
the third year, continue to reinforce the core
program and increase competitive play to the
National level.
TIMELINE:
In a three year plan, to take gradual and
deliberate steps that will build on successes,
provide opportunity to correct failures and
maintain a focused course toward program goals
and objectives.
YEAR
1Establish
an Advisory Committee for both the men’s and
women’s select team programs that would be
comprised of individuals representing varying
institutions of soccer. The Advisory
Committee’s objectives would be:

to develop and guide a pooling
process for players
·
to identify coaches for training
·
to identify locations for training
·
to identify a head coach
·
to determine a selection process
·
to identify playing opportunities
for teams
·
to help foster a core program that
will continue into year 2.
YEAR 2The
program will cycle its process into a second
year to further develop and guide the pooling
process for players toward the formal
establishment of an organized team that will
compete in the Region III Select Tournament.
YEAR 3The
program will cycle its process into a third year
to formalize the pooling and selection process
of players in
North Carolina
toward the formal establishment of an
exceptionally organized team that competes in
the Region III Select Tournament and advances
players to the National Festival.
