UPDATE: Many thanks to the
folks of Cape Fear Soccer for
incorporating our COED and Women's Over
30 State Cup divisions into the Seaside
Adult Soccer Classic in early February
to help NCASA complete its 2006 NC Adult
State Cup Series.
[RESCHEDULED
INFO] [ORIGINAL
INFO]
With the close of the 2006 NC Adult
State Cup there is obviously some
business still to conduct, not the least
of which is your bonds and passes.
Please be assured that we will work to
get those back long before the 30 day
timeframe stated in the rulebook. But
before going into detail about that,
NCASA wants to share its deep gratitude
to all the teams and participants for
making the 2006 NC Adult State Cup a
great event. The postponement really
threw a monkey wrench into a lot of
great effort by captains and the office
to have the largest State Cup tournament
ever with 51 teams... but that wasn't to
be the case with all the rain Greensboro
got on that Thursday and Friday leaving
the fields soaked through the weekend.
It was the incredible attitude and
spirit of all the teams to regroup
quickly and carry the momentum to this
weekend that energized NCASA. We are
truly grateful for your immense
dedication to the game and your teams.
With 34 teams competing in five
divisions this weekend, it was still one
of the largest tournaments NCASA has
ever had. With each tournament we learn
how to improve on a variety of things,
and we have taken away many good
suggestions and well offered feedback.
Like with this year's event, we'll
be gathering your feedback on how to
make 2007 even better.

Major thanks also needs to go out to all
the officials that came to work the
matches. Certainly, we can all say
whatever we want about the referees (and
most have), but no one can deny the
passion and dedication they have for the
game to put up with all the grief we
give them for being less than perfect
(read: Human) in a game that demands
perfect timing, discretion and
decisiveness from its official. NCASA is
grateful to our referee community, not
only for their contributions to this
weekend, but also for their efforts to
work with the reschedule. |

Thanks also needs to be given to
Greensboro Soccer and the City of
Greensboro for all they did to quickly
turn around the event from one weekend
to the next. It's easy to question the
decisions of postponement and delays,
but when you consider the quality of the
park and its fields (even in mid
December) one has to be thankful that
they are cared for the way they are so
that we can play on great fields when
the weather is agreeable! Beyond that,
the staff were very helpful with each
bend and turn to make sure we were good
to go when the whistle blew.
As to the player passes, NCASA will mail
those out with the bonds after Dec. 18,
2006.
After hosting the largest Adult State Cup in
2004, the 2005 tournament achieved a new mile stone with the re-creation of the legendary women's division. Thirty-six total teams participated with a better geographical representation than
the previous year.
Teams came from Asheville, Charlotte, Winston Salem, Greensboro, Durham, Raleigh, Goldsboro, Jacksonville and Wilmington to compete in the Men's Amateur, Men's Over 30, Men's Over 40, Men's Over 50, Coed and Women's Amateur divisions.
