In accordance with Federal Law S.534 – Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, every Adult Athlete (18 years old or older) is required to complete the initial Adult SafeSport Trained Core course. A refresher course is required each following seasonal year until the Adult Athlete ages out of the US Youth Soccer programs. It is also required that the Adult Athlete is put through a background screening process. The Adult Athlete’s name will be screened through several offenders’ databases including the National Offenders Database, the US Soccer Disqualification database, and the US Center for SafeSport’s Disciplinary database. NCYSA calls this process an “Adult Athlete Risk Management Application” (NCYSA AA RM application).
All athletes that are 18 years old or older at the time of registration OR will turn 18 years old during the 2025-26 seasonal year must complete their NCYSA AA RM application and be approved for participation by NCYSA BEFORE their name will appear on their team’s roster and BEFORE their player pass will be generated.
Adult Athletes that are 18 years old or older will not be eligible to participate in ANY NCYSA sanctioned event (this includes, but is not limited to training, practice, scrimmages, games, and tournaments) until they have completed the NCYSA AA RM application and have been approved for participation by NCYSA.
Athletes that are not yet 18 years old will need to obtain parental/guardian permission to complete the NCYSA AA RM application and to complete the SafeSport training.
Athletes will be notified by email when it is time for them to complete the NCYSA Adult Athlete RM application.
There is NO GRACE PERIOD.
TOPSoccer Athletes that are 18 years old or older at time of registration must also complete the Adult Athlete Risk Management application and complete SafeSport training. These athletes can choose to do the SafeSport training that is appropriate for their developmental age OR if the athlete has one or more cognitive disabilities and is either unable to complete or unable to understand the SafeSport Training, or that it is not appropriate for him or her, their parent or guardian can complete this NCYSA Waiver. They would upload this completed waiver instead of a SafeSport certificate to their Adult Athlete Risk Management Application.
