How Registration Works
Four steps from finding a club to getting your player on the field.
Find Your Club
Every NCYSA player registers through a local member club. Search by ZIP code to find the clubs closest to you.
Find My ClubRegister With Your Club
Your club handles registration directly. Each club sets its own programs, fees, and deadlines, so contact the club registrar to get started. NCYSA does not register players.
Complete Required Forms
Players in Academy, Challenge, and Classic complete the NCYSA Waiver each seasonal year. Recreation associations may also request a copy.
If your player was born outside the US, including US citizens born on foreign soil, an International Clearance is also required. Your club registrar will tell you which forms apply.

Passes and rosters are created electronically in PlayMetrics. NCYSA issues electronic player passes to your club registrar each seasonal year, and your manager confirms the player’s name, photo, date of birth, and jersey number are correct.
Once that is complete the player is bound to that team for the seasonal year. Registration also includes supplemental insurance for injuries in NCYSA and USYS sanctioned events.
This release is for players wishing to be released from the club they are currently registered with. It is not for player movement within a club. The Player Release is only for players currently registered in their club’s Classic, Challenge, or Academy Program.
Once a player has been added to a club and verified as a member player within the NCYSA PlayMetrics Governing Body System, an electronic Player Release is required before the player can be officially withdrawn from the club.

A parent or guardian, or the player if 18 or older, completes the form using the link below to start the release process.
Notify your current club
Let the coach and Head Registrar of your current club know the release will be submitted for review in the NCYSA PlayMetrics Governing Body System.
The club reviews the request
The club will either approve or deny the request. If approved, parents receive an email confirming the release, and the player is then eligible to communicate with another NCYSA member club.
If the request is denied
Contact the club to come to a resolution. If a resolution cannot be reached, you can appeal the denial to NCYSA within the Player Release Form in the PlayMetrics system. There can be no communication with another club until there is a resolution.

Yes, but there are restrictions as to the gender, age group, and level of play. Communicate with your club registrar for NCYSA eligibility guidelines.
A player may play with two NCYSA teams in the same day but may not play more than two games a day. Teams registered with non-NCYSA organizations are not included under this rule.
This includes US citizens born on foreign soil.
FIFA, the international governing body for soccer, requires that any foreign-born player complete an International Clearance. This paperwork is sent only to US Soccer Federation and FIFA. Contact your club registrar for the proper forms.
Once approval has been received from US Soccer Federation and FIFA, the player is NOT required to refile, unless they play outside the US.
Players are no longer required to complete an Interstate Permission form for league play.
However, if a player was a rostered player on an NCS Cup team in another state in the fall, the player may not participate in NCYSA’s NCS Cup in the spring.
It is important to communicate with your club registrar when registering from out-of-state.
The guest coach should contact the player’s regular coach first to make sure the player’s team does not have a prior commitment. Some clubs may not allow their players to guest play for another club.
The registrar for the guest team will fill out a guest player request and send it to the other club. The team the player will play on must be a registered team with a USYS member.
Guest players are not allowed for league play. Contact your club registrar for the Guest Player Form.
The parent must complete the Interstate Permission Form and submit it to NCYSA. NCYSA will send the form to the guest team’s state association for approval.
Note: Parents must make sure the guest team is a US Youth Soccer team and not registered through another youth organization, such as US Club Soccer, AYSO, GA, etc.
Because of NCAA rules on Outside Competition, every player currently playing for or recruited by a college to play in the fall of the seasonal year is REQUIRED to complete a Student-Athlete Eligibility Form, signed by the head coach or NCAA Compliance Officer at their institution.
This does not apply to college club teams or intramurals, which are not covered under NCAA rules.

NCYSA Waiver
PDFThe NCYSA waiver must be completed each seasonal year for players in Academy, Challenge, and Classic. Associations may require a copy for recreational players.
International Clearance
FIFA and US Soccer requires completion of an International Clearance for all foreign born and foreign born/US citizens. Once completed, it will be good for the player’s soccer career in the US. Parents should contact their local head registrar for more information and supporting documents/forms required.

Guest Player Form for Out of Association Player
A Guest Player Form is used when an NCYSA registered player in one NCYSA association wishes to guest play in a tournament/friendlies/training with a team in a different NCYSA association during the seasonal year. Guest players are not allowed for league play. This is also not used when the player or team is out of NC — Interstate Permission is then used.

Interstate Permission Form
PDFThis form is used in the following situations:
- Players who reside in NC who want to play with an out of state team in a tournament
- Players who reside outside of NC who want to guest play with an NCYSA team for a tournament
Eligibility Clearance, Youth/Senior
PDFTo be completed if a youth player wishes to play an unlimited number of adult games and still retain his/her youth eligibility. For players who have not reached their 19th birthday before Dec. 31 of the current seasonal year.
College-Student Athlete
PDFIn our awareness of the NCAA rules relating to Outside Competition and how this could affect the student-athlete’s eligibility, every player currently playing for or has been recruited by a college to play in the fall of the seasonal year is REQUIRED to complete a Student-Athlete Eligibility Form and have it signed by the authorized official from their institution (head coach or NCAA Compliance Officer). This does not apply to college club teams, intramurals — teams not covered under NCAA rules.
