Congratulations and Thank You, Jane

Dear Jane,
Congratulations on your retirement as NCYSA State Registrar and thank you for nearly 20 years of outstanding service to youth soccer in North Carolina.
Your leadership, dedication, and steady guidance have helped NCYSA grow, strengthen its processes, streamline rules and policies, and build a registrar community that is respected across the country. From club registrars and coaches to staff, volunteers, players, and families, so many people have benefited from your commitment and care.
We are especially grateful for the countless hours you have given — late days, weekends, Friday night calls, and all the behind-the-scenes work required to help players get on the field. Your impact has gone well beyond registration; you have helped shape the youth soccer experience for clubs and players throughout the state.
One thing I will always remember is how often you would take a call or answer a question long after the normal workday ended, simply because a club, parent, coach, or player needed help. That kind of commitment is rare, and it speaks volumes about the care you brought to the role every day.
While we will miss you in the State Registrar role, we are thankful that you will continue supporting the International Clearance process and advocating on behalf of players. Your knowledge and experience remain invaluable.
Jane, congratulations again on this well-earned transition. We will miss your leadership, your friendship, and your daily presence in this role, but we are deeply appreciative of all you have given to NCYSA and the broader soccer community.
Thank you again for your years of service, your generosity with your time, and the lasting difference you have made for NCYSA and the many people who have had the privilege to work with you.

The Summer of Soccer Continues
A message to our soccer community as we prepare for the fall season.
The World Cup may have come to a close, but the summer of soccer continues across North Carolina. As teams, coaches, administrators, referees, families, and players look ahead to the upcoming fall season, this is the perfect time to reflect on the kind of soccer environment we want to create together.
At the heart of youth soccer is the responsibility to provide players with a safe, age-appropriate, and enjoyable experience. Every training session, match, sideline interaction, and communication should support that goal. When we keep the needs of the players in front of us at the center of our decisions, we help create an environment where children can learn, grow, compete, and most importantly, have fun.
Clear, concise, and accurate communication will also be essential as we move into the new season. Families rely on us for timely information, thoughtful leadership, and consistent messaging. By working together and communicating well, we can help ensure that every family feels informed, welcomed, and supported.
Just as important is the way we treat one another. Whether we are interacting with players, parents, coaches, referees, club leaders, or volunteers, we should all strive to show the same respect, patience, and care that we would hope to receive ourselves. A positive soccer culture is built through everyday actions, and each of us has a role to play in strengthening that culture.
As we prepare for the fall, let’s continue working together to put the best possible product on the field for our families. Our shared goal is for every participant to walk away with a positive experience and for soccer to continue growing as one of the most child-friendly sports across North Carolina.

A Note from Bill Furjanic
My journey as Interim Executive Director began on Groundhog Day 2026 but — unlike the movie – each day has been quite different. Over the past four months, the NCYSA team has been focused on organizing itself into a forward-thinking organization, with an eye toward the future of soccer in North Carolina and across the country.
It is an exciting time for sport, with the Men’s World Cup underway as I write this, and the Olympics and Women’s World Cup on the horizon. We have been meeting with USYS and U.S. Soccer to discuss the future vision for the game, and our team is actively identifying ways to help all of us stay ahead in this ever-evolving sport.
Our team is energized by this challenge, and with your support, we will work together to shape a strong new vision for soccer in North Carolina and beyond. Together, we will continue building a stronger future for every player, family, and community we serve. Thank you for your commitment to the game and for the role you play in helping soccer thrive across North Carolina.
